Do you feel underpowered? Struggling to get up hills without block changing? Or simply not happy with the economy or performance of your vehicle?

Let Prospect help you with custom ECU Remapping!

When a vehicle leaves the factory it is equipped with software on its Engine Control Unit (ECU) that is generic to suit all areas around the world ie. climate (hot and cold, high and low altitude), poor fuel grade and local emissions laws, meaning it has not been optimised fully.

Car manufacturers also like to under optimise a vehicle to allow them to release a later model with the same engine that has a higher HP output and therefore demands a higher price tag.

This gives great opportunity to make some significant gains.  There are many benefits to engine remapping, two of the most prominent being fuel efficiency and performance improvements.

Performance Improvements ⨁

Performance improvements as a result of engine tuning, especially on turbo vehicles, can be quite drastic, ranging between +15-45%. This also makes the vehicle much easier to drive across the rev range and removes annoying flat spots.

Fuel Efficiency ⨁

Fuel efficiency MPG improvements from remapping can be between +10-20% on a diesel engine. This means it can take just a few months to pay back the map, from then on saving you money. This is particularly beneficial if you are business owner with a fleet of vehicles. Our market-leading engine remapping software has already helped business owners across the South West in Somerset, Wiltshire and Dorset save themselves money by fleet van remapping.

Prospect only use the best quality tuning files that will maximise the potential of your motor in a safe way. All files have been developed by leading automotive engine tuning provider Viezu.

During the engine remapping process we take the current software off the ECU and edit the original file. Unlike generic remaps we ensure that the car doesn’t have electrical gremlins and runs as if it was from factory – with the added benefit of improved performance and economy.

All tools used are top quality and 100% genuine, unlike some out there using dangerous clones of the original tools. The clones can be very harmful to the components of the car and it’s not a matter of ‘if’ but a matter of ‘when’ it ruins an ECU. With Prospect you can buy with confidence – all Viezu’s files are guaranteed for a lifetime and we offer a 30 day money-back guarantee.

We are fully mobile and can carry out the work at a location of your choice

Many of our customers have it done at their home or place of work. All vehicles are diagnostically health-checked before work is carried out to ensure you get the best out of it. All work carried out is insured and guaranteed for peace of mind.

We can map most makes and models including VW, Audi, Mercedes, BMW, Ford, Honda, Nissan, Land Rover, Jaguar, Skoda, Porsche, Seat and many more.

Van remapping is also becoming increasingly popular. Headroom for power gains is massive as most are detuned versions and share the same components across the range.

If you are within Somerset, Wiltshire or Dorset and want to realise the benefits of engine remapping for your vehicle or fleet of vehicles, we are here to help.

There are 2 main ways that we are able to achieve these great results:

OBD Tuning

This the most common way of getting access to rewriting your car’s standard engine tuning software. This is done through a cable to the OBD port (On Board Diagnostic) and from there we can do the magic.

Bench Tuning

Unfortunately not all ECUs can be mapped through the OBD port; however
we can carefully remove your ECU and write our software on the bench tool.

We also carry out DSG gearbox remapping

Gearbox Tuning

We have the capability to remap VAG (Audi, VW, Skoda) DSG gearboxes, improving speed of change and clamping force pressures on the clutch pack  improving 0-60 and ¼ mile times. This also allows you to run higher torque numbers without damaging your transmission.

EGR problems and DPF problems can be some of the most problematic things facing diesel motorists today and there are options of deleting these as part of our remapping service.

EGR/DPF DELETE

We can also offer: high and low torque files, decat engine light removal, pops and bangs (popcorn map), adblue delete, DTC amends, DPF delete, EGR delete and many more.

Other services

Private fitting service upon request at our workshop where we can fit after-market parts, such as
decat pipes, DPF removal pipes, intercoolers, intake systems and many more.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

What does an ECU do? ⨁

It controls all the sensors and components of the engine to keep it running
well.

What effect does a remap have? ⨁

More power and torque across the rev range, better fuel economy
and an easier, more pleasurable driving experience.

What is the difference between stage 1 and 2? ⨁

Stage 1 generally is just a software change ie remap.

Stage 2 will have hardware changes such as cat/DPF deletion as well as software, pushing the capability further.

Is a remap dangerous for the engine? ⨁

It can be if the tuning files aren’t very good, hence why we have partnered with Viezu who supply the best quality files for peace of mind, that have been developed on the dyno (rolling road) for many hours and used thousands of times. We are also insurance-backed for peace of mind. Please note that increasing the power of your vehicle may exacerbate existing faults and may increase wear and tear on parts, causing them to be replaced earlier than would otherwise have been the case. This is particularly the case on older vehicles or on vehicles that have done a lot of miles. It is not due to problems with the remapping software.

Will a map void my warrantee? ⨁

Only on the engine side. Some customers choose to wait until their warrantee expires, others take the risk and some flash back to stock software for dealer visits.

Is mapping worth it for all vehicles? ⨁

Yes, particularly if it has a turbo engine, although there is head room for improvement in vehicles across the board.

Will my fuel economy improve as well as performance? ⨁

Yes you will see an improvement when driven sensibly, as everything is optimised and arguably running better than factory. The added torque will mean less gear changes and less fuel used.

Will I need to use higher grade fuels than normal with a remap? ⨁

No not necessarily, however it is good practice to run some through sometimes as the fuel has more additives to keep the engine healthy and running well.

Do I need to declare to my insurance? ⨁

Yes you do need to notify your insurer. Insurers are becoming much more aware and understanding of this modification.

How long will it take? ⨁

90 minutes or less for OBD. Bench tuning can take longer due to the removal and refitting of the ECU.

What types of vehicles can you remap? ⨁

most cars, vans, pickups and motorbikes.

How do I know if my vehicle is OBD or bench tuning capable? ⨁

Just ask and we will help answer this question whilst informing you of the potential gain statistics.

What warrantee do you offer on the remap? ⨁

30 day money back guarantee, lifetime warrantee on the software itself and insurance backed in the unlikely case of damage caused.
